6. Fruit Cores and Seeds
Just like humans, dogs love fruits like apples, plums, and pears. They are great healthy and affordable treats that can be shared with your canine best friend without any worry of danger. However, when it comes to the center of the fruit, the core and seeds should be tossed completely and never shared with a dog.
Fruits cores contain the chemical cyanogenic glycosides, more commonly referred to as cyanide. While a couple of fruit seeds or pieces of the core are completely harmless to dogs, ingesting too much of it can be as deadly as it sounds. Reports of dogs falling into comas or having life threatening seizures after ingesting a fruit’s core or leftover seeds is common. Therefore, it is best to play it safe and monitor the fruit given to dogs for any traces of seeds or core parts.
